| A settlement on the now sparsely populated island of Björkö was established in the 8th century, and this is the site of one of Scandinavia’s earliest urban communities. The images depicted were photographed in the vicinity of a memorial dedicated to Ansgar, a monk who came to this once thriving trade link to the Byzantine Empire in 830AD.
The time-lapse sequence shown was produced by capturing one photograph per minute over a one hundred minute period, during the arrival of a storm to the island. The resulting animation is a meditation on transience.
